TKR after TTT??? - - Posted by Tery (2soreknees), 2 March 2004

My OS has told me that I will need to have a TKR on both knees eventually. I was wondering if previously having a TTT on my knee(s) would make a TKR more difficult? or easier? or does it matter?

Thanks!

Greetings,

Sorry I am new to the forums here.  What is a TTT?

Thanks,

Welcome.  A TTT is a Tibial Tubercle Transfer.  It is where the Orthopedic Surgeon realigns the Tibial Tuberosity - thats the place on your tibia where the patella femoral tendon attaches.  It is done to help the alignment and tracking of the patella.
This is a great site.  If you look at the upper right you will see all kinds of reference sources.  The Dictionary can help you decipher some of the acronyms we use.
