KNEE ARTHRITIS - Autologous chondrocyte implantation (A.C.I.) :

Almost 6 years post ACI - possibly damaged   - - Posted by Debbie_in_SC (Debbie_in_SC), 19 July 2004

Fall of this year will mark my 6th year post ACI.  And up until a month or so ago, I had absolutely astounding success.  I could walk, dance, swim, bowl, run, play racquetball, you name it!
Unfortunately, I fell on my knee while vacationing the end of May, and I think I may have redamaged it.  The first few days were painful due to bruising and swelling.  Then, my condition seemed to quickly deteriorate until I am now in almost as much pain as I was prior to my procedure.  I am shocked at the speed at which it deteriorated.
Now I am fighting my new insurance company to allow me to see the only ortho. doctor in my area who is trained in the procedure.  The doctor in my network says I am experiencing "knee tracking problems."  Funny, but it was one of his colleagues who told me the same thing 7 years ago.  Five surgeries later, I was finally able to get some relief from his misdiagnosis.

Has anyone else gone through a similar situation and had good results on the second surgery?
