Joint hypermobility disorders :
Help!!! - - Posted by wanderingscout (wanderingscout), 27 May 2003
I dislocated the head of my fibula 12 weeks ago while working as a ski patroller. The injury was first misdiagnosed as a Lcl/ Mcl sprain, then rediagnosed, and reduced about one week after the injury. I have been off work and only walking short distances due to continued severe pain. My fibula is now "hyper-mobile", and my knee is unstable when I walk, "dropping" me to the inside, when I walk straight, or collapsing when I twist to the outside. I have significant pain along the joint line, all along the fibula, and the pain has now spread to my ankle which was initially fine, but now swollen and with reduced mobility. Doctors and physios which I have seen do not seem to know how to treat this injury, and it is progressively getting worse. Does anyone have any ideas what I have done, and what appropriate treatment would be?
Thank you.

i too have this problem (so I recently found) and the ONLY help and relief I get is from my Osteopath (he is also the one who found it) for me it slips out and gets trapped making the tibial torsoin in my leg worse and also as you said affecting my ankle and knee A LOT.
You could try an osteopath or try to find a helpful OS. As the only way to fix it surgically i would thing would be to either repair the ligaments which hold it in place or to wire it in placce.
I am NOT a doctor or anything but I am a hypermobile (generalised in me (I have EDS)).
Good luck and know that you are NOT alone

By the way WELCOME and Hope you find KneeGeeks as much help as I have.
Where are you from in the world ??
