Overuse problems of the knee :

Jumpers Knee - - Posted by skv0000 (skv0000), 11 March 2004

I have been diagnosed with tendonitis about 6 years ago and am an avid volleyball payer, so I know why they call it "jumpers knee".  I went through PT for 4 months whith electrical stimulation and supervised excercise.  It felt better, but the pain came back again.  I have been just playing in pain, but then my knee swelled up so I went to the doc.  He recommended surgery to clean out a piece of the Patellar tendon on the inside of the knee which could be clearly seen on an MRI.  He also said that my Femur is tracking outward and wants to "loosen" my LCL so the bone will sit straight.  Apparently, it will be bone on bone in the fututre if I don't do anything about it.  Has anyone heard of this?  The Surgeon has worked on pro hockey players, so his crudentials work for me.  Has anyone out there had a similar "tune-up"?
