Baker's Cyst - - Posted by OF7 (OF7), 16 April 2003

I'm a 26 year old athlete involved in elite sport competition (international level).  I have recently been diagnosed with a Baker's cyst (having MRI to confirm today).  I have only 6 weeks until our competitive season begins. I've done lots of research on the causes,etc... of the cyst.  My question is, does anyone know how long aspiration plus injection of cortisone can last before the cyst comes back?  If it can last me two to three months, that is likely the option I will take until I can get the surgery in the off-season.  If it won't last that long, I will have to look at surgery as the first option...

Thanks for your time.

Hi

I've just been having a look over some sites for you about this and the majority says the effect CAN last 8-12 weeks.
