KNEE ARTHRITIS - General principles of managing Osteoarthritis of the knee :

hello......... - - Posted by iancc (iancc), 22 December 2002

Glad I found this group!
I read through the other posts to see if this question has been answered.

A year ago I had an Arthroscopy scrape on both of my knees along with repair to a minor Meniscus tear.  It provided short-term relief from daily chronic knee pain.

My question is this a problem I should learn to accept? – Are there other surgical Arthritic procedures? I am presently taking Glucosimine Supplements

It’s been a year since I have seen my OS for any follow up  – I visit the Chiropractor weekly – and am making progress on the Range of Motion for my knees.
Now my feeling is that my knee problems are Mechanical – something just doesn’t feel right – my knee goes out often – and is sometimes hard to straighten
Going downstairs is terribly difficult.

I am in the Landscaping business and have over the last year realized that I better find another line of work – pronto

Thankful for any advice

My personal opinion is that a chiropractor is the last person you want to see about a knee problem.  I tore the same meniscus 3 times and had it removed a piece at a time. I have arthritis now and there is no cure for that. There are a couple more things they can do (osteotomy, TKR) for releief but otherwise I have to live with it.
