Meniscus :
questions? - - Posted by Bruser (Bruser), 26 December 2004
Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions.
I have had 80% of my medial meniscus removed on one knee and 50% on the other knee, I am not doing well at all, I have been in therapy for 12 weeks now and they cannot get my quad muscle to fire on it's own, the only way they can get it to react is by stem, at a high voltage.
My knee will not support me anymore, all responses are much appreciated.
Thank you,
Bruser

Can you post a little more about your history? Were the problems with your menisci degenerative, or did you have trauma? In what order did you have your surgeries, and when did your quad muscle become inoperative?

surgeries on the right knee Dec 2002 April 2003 Jan 2004 and I have the last 20% which is now shredded, on the medial side, trauma from work injury and I have gone down hill since, the O.S.'s are baffled as to why it keeps shredding.
The right knee was the last surgery first time for it, took me 18 months to finally get an MRI done, October, 2004 that is the one my quad will not fire on at all on my own, it looks like it is sagging over my knee. I had a large medial meniscus cyst 50% of the medial meniscus removed and MCL released, I also have a grade 3 chondromalacia on both knees. I just don't see how I can have all of this in a two years span.
Thanks, Bruser
