Bone breaks around the knee :
what is ROM - - Posted by booms (booms), 28 August 2004
Hi,
Here people have a lot of knowledge of what surgeries they went thru and the types of wires they had. My doctor did not tell me anything. All I know is that I have wires in my legs a'snd that cause i can see them poking out. i call them pokemonsters.
what is ROM and flexion?
Also the scar has alot of loose skin, has anyone gone thru a cosmetic surgery for that? I'm sure my knees won't look the same but still the scar just makes it look uglier.
i'm dying to get my hardware removed. My doc told me that i will be able to do everything after that. is that a lie?
Booms.

Hi Booms and welcome to Kneegeeks
Since I am a Tib Plateau baby, I cannot give you any specifics on patella injuries. However, I can tell you what ROM and flexion are.
ROM = Range of Motion which includes flexion (bending) and extension (straightening).
Sooo, when you see people discussing "gaining ROM," that means "gaining their ability to bend or straighten their leg."
Hope that helps - and I wish you all the best in your recovery!
