Going in for surgery Monday... - - Posted by lilac2 (lilac2), 6 January 2005

I am going in for the Fulkersons Procedure.  If anyone has any last minute thoughts feel free to share them with me.  I am now starting to freak out about the surgery.  I have had the pre-op and everything.  And now after knowing I was having this for the past two months I am getting scared.  I have heard it is a really looonnggg recoveryHuh?

Take a breath, relax and read up on the proceedure in the post op section & surgical proceedures section on this site.  You will do fine, many people feel that they have been given a new lease on life once they have had this proceedure.

It is rough, but you probably have already been through rough spots if you are having this proceedure.  You will find most people say the first week is the most painful and then it gets better every day after that.

Make sure you take your meds on time so you can keep up with the pain and ask if you will be getting an ice unit.  Polar care units seem to have helped alot of people with recovery.  If not have lots of soft ice packs and you will manage, that will help with the swelling.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing?   Wink
