Hi Helen

I cant really help, but thought Id post and let you know you're not on your own. I get something similar when Im ill, tired or due my period. I get really achy (even more than usual) and all my joints swell up. I usually feel fluey even though its just a common cold or Im merely shattered. The rheumy I saw last week said I might have FMS, so I thought it could be due to that, but who knows.

Stress is the real killer for me. I usually end up feeling like Ive been run over by a truck. I find the only way to ease my aches is to have a hot bath with lots of relaxing smellies and then climb into bed while Im still toasty. Tramadol also helps LOL.

Take care.

Hi Helen

Sorry this is very late-yes I've heard of this condition, it was one of the possible conditions that was passed around for me before getting a diagnosis.

It's usually an all over condition affecting many joints rather than just one, it's caused by a viral infection but can also be side effect if you like of having a staph infection elsewhere in the body.

It's a temporary condition, usually disappearing within days to weeks, anti inflammatories either prescribed or over the counter are the standard treatment, anti- arthritic drugs are not usually given, however if jints are swollen so much so that movement is severely affected, it's possible that they may have to draw fluid from the joint.

It doesn't normally leave any side effects once the virus is over and the diagnosis is normally made by examination and maybe a blood test.
