Odd Bods Law - - Posted by Shazinoz (Shazinoz), 16 March 2003
I thought I would start a post on Odd Bods Law (you have heard of Murphy's law, which basically states if it can go wrong it will go wrong) I thought I would start an Odd Bods Law.
So my 1st (small as it is very late) contribution is:
Odd Bods Law states that:-
* If it is still (ie Not moving) you can run into it, trip over it, fall into it or other wise injure yourself on it;
* if it is moving you will fall over it, trip over it, bang into it, knock your self out on it or other wise injure yourself on it;
* If there is a shadow on the floor/wall etc etc it may as well be an actual object as you are going to do one of the above on it anyway;
* If someone bumps into you, they are ALWAYS going to grab, bang, bump, step on or otherwise HURT the sorest part of your body (no matter which part it is);
* IF it can give way, collapse etc out from under you it will;
OK I have started why don't you all try adding to this and we will see what we come up with (this is actually fun and something to do and also may infact make others realise what is is like (in a very small way) to live inside and ODD BODD.

LoL - nice one Shaz, these are just so true especially with Odd Bods. My contributions given my escapades of the last few weeks are:
* If you are in a bad way and feeling very beaten up, never fear there's always at least one more bodily part you can injure...i.e. my broken elbow!
* If it is an inanimate object that is incapalbe of moving it will still find away of leaping out and attackig you - such as the coffee table, doors and walls do to me everyday!
* If you have just damaged a part of your body a blissfully ignorant child, animal or family member will always manage to bash it with themselves and/or their Captain Proton space crusader.
* When the ER doc, consultant or fracture clinic says they hope not to see you for a while expect to be returning very soon....in my case less than an hour on one ocassion.
* And the law that I always live by - if it can happen it will and if it's unlikely to happen it probably still will!
Love.......Jo

I have more.
* If it can hurt it will hurt
* if a doctor doesn't know what the problems is he will make up something that makes it YOUR fault (it is in your head, you are seeking attention, there is nothing wrong AND MORE)
* You will fight for most of your life to get a diagnosis and when you do, medical people will run screaming from the room, as they think you are TO HARD to help
* you will probably be on a first name basis with ER personal, and they know you by name and sight (Sad but true).
* when you think nothing else could hurt you weill hurt something else.
* if the doctors say it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to have ...... then chances are you have it, have done it or will do it (Ie me with my dislocated ribs, I keep getting told yu cant dislocate them, when they ARE OUT)
That ti enough for today but I will continue to add more later, Please feel free and try to think of others to add, hey maybe we can make a poster (likethe murphey law ones) called Odd bods Law <LOL>

At last - something to bring a wee smile to my face. I've had 5 months of torment with knee injury sustained from a fall down the stairs - I swear I saw a small gremlin jump out of the carpet and trip me up.
Anyway, I would like to become a fully paid up member of the Odd Bods Law Society and add on a couple more 'true' examples to prove my worth!
1. If they can give you something to help, be assured you can hurt yourself on it. (A month into my treatment, I managed to kick my crutches and break a bone in the foot of my good leg).
2. Don't try and take your mind of your injury, as you will only get another one in it's place. (Got my hubby to take me for a drive on a nice sunny day and some nutter drove into the back of us - giving me and my husband whiplash).
Hello to everyone on Knee Guru - this is my first posting so I hope it works!!

Appearences ca be decptiive- soft toys hurt.
Do not trust food- it can hurt as well
Beware of childen, they have a magnetic force to the part of your body that hurts the most and they WILL try to kick you there.
Newspaper is a dangerous item which should not be allowed in houses of people with bad knees.
