Embarassed  I hope that the next time you are on the table, they get it right, or at least a whole lot better than where you are right now.

Some of these surgeons do talk out of their botties dont they?
One of my previous surgeons said that operating on my knees and stabilising them was like balancing two snooker balls ontop of each other and he didnt have clue....... 4 years down the line after numerous ops and stating he could help me and get me walikng properly...Lier..... he could no longer help me as he didnt possess the skills to help me. Nice for his wallet and his porsce.
Needless to say I reminded him what he could do with his snooker balls.
Keep on plugging I am sure there are answers out there for all of us.

Don't some surgeons just make you fume. I reckon they use half of us as guinea pigs. The last thing they want to tell us when we see them is "well, I haven't done much of this, I think I can fix it, or I'll give it a try and see what happens". They all tell us they can fix us up and going by this web site, the percentage of successfull outcomes is pretty low. After my 2nd ACL recon (that failed), my OS rubbed his head and said "I just can't understand whats happening, that operation should have fixed the problem". Its ok for them, the recovery is just the same whether your op is good or failed. I really like my 2nd OS, I even let him have a 2nd go after he failed, and surprise, it failed for the 3rd time. My 3rd OS wants to do another ACL but I'm waiting it out and just wear a hinged brace for a bit of light sport until I really have to have it done again. I think you just have to be lucky to get someone who really knows what they're doing. I feel sorry for you, you've gone through so much. But it's people like you who make me feel like I should'nt complain. Good luck Girl  Smiley

What about some times dear things have to get worse before they can get better.
What a load of Huh*** and I think this is something you might have to learn to live with, like they would.
Huh they do make me angry.

Sue,

Excellent idea--I think we should compile a list of outrageous utterances from our orthopedic surgeons.

I have two favorites--from two doctors.

The first is from my current OS, who made the comment to me after my second surgery.  This was an exploratory scope to find out why I wasn't progressing at 5 months post-op from lateral release--it was because my whole knee was congested with scar tissue.  "Wow, no wonder you were in pain.  I'm sorry I cut off your pain meds."

And my personal favorite, from an OS who declined to take me on as a patient in July.  "I wouldn't mess with it, because scar tissue can be stretched.  Besides, you probably won't miss being able to bend your knee fully anyway...."

LOL.  It's either laugh or cry.  Or hurt someone.

Sue,

I am so sorry to hear things are going so badly for you. As you know I am preparing for the PKR at the end of the month. Mine is being made specially for my joint to fit exactly. My OS feels this is my best chance.

But I know my chances of this working are very slim and I am getting terrified. I keep reminding myself that i have to try this.

I hope things will get better soon. Please e-mail if you need to.

This week, when I brought up the pain in my right knee--my doc said,  "Well, if it is half as bad as your other knee was, it's bound to hurt a lot.   You'll just have to keep taking pain meds and stay off of it."

At least he confirmed my pain and discomfort...unfortunately, I was hoping to feel better...Sylvia
