Cruciate ligaments :

15 weeks Post Op/Knee clicking - - Posted by desiree1 (desiree1), 29 December 2004

Hi All,
My recovery has been going pretty well and my muscle strenghth is slowly coming back but the last 3 or 4 days I have noticed that my knee clicks when I straighten it slightly on the outside (lateral) I wonder if its scar tissure or something like that it feels as if there is something catching it does not hurt but it does concern me I have not fallen over or damaged my knee that has caused this.My surgeon 3 weeks ago said that my graft had taken and was solid after doing the lachmans test but I am slightly worried, hope someone can shed some light on this ??

chris,

I have the same issue, and im 6 mnts post op allograft.

I've read that other people on her have had the same issues about a year+ after surgery.

ITs probably just that some small muscles around you knee are week and just need to be strenghtend.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, but you may want to mention it to your doctor.

Best wishes
Aubrie

Hi,
I had the same problem after 9 months..and posters here suggested biking and weighted leg extensions to strengthen the muscles.  That helped quite a bit.

good luck

Hi,

I also had the same concerns over my knee up until around 6-7 months post op.

It kinda just stopped doing it.

Advice from my is to put in the work in the GYM be sensible and all should be ok.

Good luck

I'm still pre-op, but I've noticed the same exact clicking my first few times back at the gym.  The exercises where I'd hear it are the weighted leg extensions and the leg press.  I still hear it on the leg press with heavy weight, but it has gone away during leg extensions as my quads and surrounding muscles have built up strength.  That should be your ticket out...

Hi, I'm almost 7 months post-op and although I can jog pretty freely, I've been having fairly intense clicking/grinding/klunking associated with extension with swelling and a bit of pain on the medial side between the femur and the tibia. I'm scheduled for a scope in 2 weeks to clean-up what my OS believes to be a cyclops lesion causing the problem. I'll let you know how it turns out..  Lips Sealed

Morning Gab and others....

I went jogging for the first time today and felt a bit strange but o.k.Yes im having the clunking/clicking still quite alot of the time which is annoying if anything  but is not painful and my knee feels quite good apart althou quads are quite stiff sometimes.
Im seeing my surgeon next week hopefully he will have some answers,i would have thought new ACL is o.k if I had damaged it again im sure I would have alot of swelling and pain ?
