I am four years out of my osteotomy. They are going in to removal the plate, wedge, and screws. I am having this done as a first step toward replacement. Does anyone know how painful a procedure this is and what recovery is like. Has anyone gotton some pain relief from have that stuff taken out?? I have lots of pain and have trouble sleeping because of the aching at night.

Can you tell me some of your symptoms with the hardware??
My husband had an osteotomy in May and has been having pain where his wedge was taken. He also says he has pain like shin splints. I was wondering if this was normal.

p.s. he is interested in having his hardware out after a year and wonders the same about recovery and how big of a proceedure it is.
