NOTES - Surgical Procedures :

Total Knee Replacement Neebie - - Posted by charlesgoff (charlesgoff), 18 February 2004

I'm three months away from a scheduled total knee replacement.  I was just looking for opinions of other people who have had them, anything I should look for, etc.  I've had a 25-year history of problems with the right knee starting with tearing my ACL, MCL, and cartiliage back in 1979 playing football.  The knee has steadily gone downhill over the years but the last two have been the worst.  I tore the ACL again about two years ago while lifting weights.  Given the overall state of the knee (osteo in all three compartments and severe loading in the medial compartment) it didn't seem worth it to fix the ACL.  Now I've also developed very painfull bone spurs under the patella and along the lateral compartment.
