Chrondomalacia - - Posted by Buddhabuoy22 (Buddhabuoy22), 9 April 2004
Hi everyone,
I am new to these boards and was wondering if I am even in the right place to post this? But, I have been dx with chrondomalacia and am in serious pain from that. I have the incapacitating kind. I am stuck in bed most of the time due to pain. Does anyone else have this condition and do you know what some treatment options are? I have had sx and PT.
Thanks.

Hi There!
I have chrondomalacia (90% cartilage loss under my patella) advanced stages of OA and very little lateral meniscus left. I have been diligent in my P.T. That has helped me a lot. I also did some "prolotherapy" this past summer. That seemed to stabilize my ligaments and I was able to run/walk.
What kind of activities do you do? You said that you are in bed because of this?

You might try posting questions about Chondromalacia on the Patella Femoral Board.
HOpe that helped, goodluck

Ya, you definately want to check out the Patella Femoral Posts. Chrondomalacia Patella is another phrase for Patella Femoral Syndrome or Disease. You'll unfortunately find the path ahead of you may be long but hopefully you will find relief before the many surgeries we have been through. Good luck!

Hi,
I have chondromalacia grade 4 in both knees, my OS said that my knees are bald, hardly any cartilidge left. I have just had Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI). I have a post on the ACI site, called follow my aci from start to finish, starts 18/10/04. I'm only 2 weeks post second stage, so its early days, but there is an 80% success rate. I had to have three grafts in total, as in total the lesion areas measured 8cm square, which is quite a large loss of cartilidge, I will have to have the left knee done also in about 18 months, once over this one. You may find my post of interest, so take a look and see if it helps.
Best regards
Jules
