NOTES - Surgical Procedures :

repicci knee - - Posted by kiddoca (kiddoca), 22 November 2004

I am scheduled for a partial knee replacement using the repicci system. Dr. Repicci in Buffalo is doing the surgery. Does anyone have any experience with him or the procedure.  I am a physician and he came highly recommended.

I believe the repicci system is minimally invasive, and uses a prosthesis designed by your MD for partial knee replacement.  The minimally invasive technique is being used even in total knee replacements these days, hopefully by well trained physicians.  Since the MD who designed it is doing it, he certainly should know. You might be interested in a paperback book I recently purchased ( I'm having a total replacement done May 2 at hospital for special surgery in NYC). Someone mentioned it on another kneelist, and it is really excellent, it's called Total Knee Rehabilitation , A knee owners guide. Even though you are having a partial, it might be useful. Just a thought.  I ordered it from Amazon. Good luck.   betty
