Joint hypermobility disorders :
Hypermobility and a TTT - - Posted by emma_louise (emma_louise), 14 November 2003
Hey everyone
I have gathered alot more info since my last post, my MRI scan came back showing that my kneecap is sitting way off centre and the groove is also very shallow, hence why my knee always dislocates/sublaxates.
The off centre kneecap is causing all my pain by putting pressure on the tissues round one side and stretching the tissues on the other.
My consultant has scheduled me for a TTT and lateral release on Jan 15th (he's doing the TTT as the lat release by itself would not work bc of the HMS) and I just wondered if anybody else has had this surgery before? And if you have any comments on it at all?
He's quoted me a 75% chance of making it better (therefore a 25% chance it won't work) and a 5% chance that it will make it worse. These seem pretty good odds compared to the pain at the moment, but it is a massive procedure with a loong recovery time.
I have too many questions to list here but if anyone has any comments or anything at all to say then it would be much appreciated!
Many thanks and hope everyone's knees are behaving themselves!!

Charlie,
I don't "officially" have hypermobility but I show many of the signs of it. I had a TTT this past April and am still having problems. I hate to say it but I am worse off right now than before the surgeries a lmost a year ago. My ROM is less, the pain is more anddthe subluxing is marginally better at teh moment but it is gradually getting worse. I'm being sent back to PT for gait retraining to try and get all the muscles to work correctly since it has been so long. If that does not work my OS was talking about a femoral derotational procedure.
I hope others will speak up about some successful outcomes.
