If was wondering if anyone could tell me what this means??

There is abnormal signal seen within the posterior horn of the medial meniscus

That is what my MRI said and I dont know what it means.

From what I was told with my MRI it probably means that there could be a tearHuh? When they indicate a dark shading region that means something is there that shouldnt be, it's just what it is thats the ?...I dont know if that helped at all but thats what I was told... Smiley

or it could possibly be degenerative changes to the meniscus from normal wear and tear....

Also, if you have had a previous tear repaired it would show up as this.
My report said 'abnormal signal' in it  but it went on to say that it was probably a tear.  You really need the os to have a look to see how it will be interpreted.
All of the suggestions could be a possibility.

my MRI said definnite tear but could not define whether it was abucket handle or not.  Specified that it was of the medial meniscus.  In order to get the MRI they had to totally immobile my knee and even then  there was severe pain at the end of the MRI.  Hope someone can help since then have had poping of my MCL.  In addition I am feeling pain now at the side of my knee and under the kneecap and along my mcl.  The knee feelis like a piece of jelly.
