Help! Senior with Meniscus Tear - - Posted by smallen123 (smallen123), 11 January 2005

HuhMy mother is 63 and just got her MRI back.  She has torn Meniscus.  At her age I don't think surgery is the answer, although I've read that it can noit repair it's self.  Has anyone tried rebuilding the cartiklage with nutrition and vitimins?  Are there any other Non-Surigical treatments worth trying? Does anyone have any ideas on how she could handle this?  I think she would like to treat by nutrition, vitimins & herbs.  Please help! Please advise of any Web sites to go that would be helpful.

A true tear in the meniscus will probably not heal.  There is little to no blood supply, depending on the location of the tear.  Someone recently recommended this book to me, and I found it extremely helpful in educating myself about knee conditions, and helpful in determining if you really want to go ahead with surgery.
