Success/Failure w/ Microfract To Trochlea? - - Posted by Nick_Knack (Nick_Knack), 25 December 2004
Also:
1) What caused your defect (do you suspect, if not sure)?
2) How long are you post op?
3) If you are very happy, who/where was your surgeon?
(I'm in NYC, thanks, but willing to fly)
Appreciate all responses,
Nick

Nick,
I see you're doing research--have you considered seeing the father of microfracture, Dr. Steadman? Since it's ski season, it can be a bit of a wait for an appointment at this point, but if you wait until April or get on the list now, you should be able to get a consult. He is incredibly thorough in his diagnostic procedures, but at the same time doesn't waste resources. For example, after reading my case history and doing my exam, Dr. Steadman only ordered x-rays. He said if they didn't show anything, he'd get an MRI. But my x-rays showed exactly what he thought they would, and we saved over $2000 on the MRI. If I had needed one, he has this awesome kinematic MRI that takes pictures that are not static--they are done in motion, which shows a lot more than other MRI's.
Anyway, since you are considering microfracture, I thought I'd throw Dr. Steadman's name out there. He's a wonderful surgeon who does not have the ego we've come to expect with some of the big names....
