KNEE ARTHRITIS - Total Knee Replacement :
HIP PAIN after TKR - - Posted by snake (snake), 25 April 2004
I had severe hip pain before the TKR on my knee. THEY say it is because my gait was abnormal. It is now 5 months post TKR and the hip pain is back. Has anyone else had this problem? THEY say it is bursitis, but some days it gets so bad that I can't put my weight on my leg.

Hi!
I had hip pain before my second TKR. It got worse and worse, especially during therapy. My knee wasn't improving and then I also got this pain in my back. My ortho ordered xrays and an MRI. It turned out to be a number of arthritis and stuff in my back--and in my hip.
Just recently, the burning, swelling, discoloration, itching and so onmoved into my hip which turned into spreading/movement of the RSD.
You might want to schedule an appointment to focus on your hip and have some tests, xrays, etc...to see if there are any specific disorders in your hip. (I hope there is not, and the gait solution is the real answer. It does play a part for any of us with knee issues.)
Take care, Sylvia
