Rheumatoid Arthritis (and its variants) :

Update on my Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis quest - - Posted by rhea (rhea), 28 August 2002

Hey Everybody,

I just  got off the phone.  I was talking to a lady from the arthritis society.  I emailed a few of them 2 weeks ago hoping to maybe get in with a rheumy that way since my naturopath isn't have any luck getting me in with anyone.  Now this is my type of person!  I told her my name and she was like "oh yeah!! I remember you now, you are the girl stuck with a jack a** for a GP!"    Anyways, she took me on as a client, even though its "against the rules".  Normally, I should be reffered by my GP to a children's treatment centre and go from there...  But she said she couldn't bare to just leave me hanging like that with no help because that "would be wrong".  Jeez, I wish she was my GP!  So anyways Im entered as a client on the Arthritis Society against the rules, and she is going to get me in with one of their Arthritis Thereapists who come up to my city every week.   From there I should be able to get in with a rheumy in the children's treatment center.  I was kind of putting off calling her b/c I was worried my GP would be notified and blast me about the whole thing, but this morning my fingers and knuckles were hurting so I said now or never...  When she asked for GP's name she said they weren't going to contact him, but just needed it for my file.  So now maybe I can get my other joints looked after!!

Thanks everyone for your support with this whole JRA scare thing..  Id just love to get a rheumy to send a nasty letter to my GP out of nowhere  if I do have it.  Teach him to blow a patient off!  Sorry, but today I feel a bit victorious!

(((hugs))) n' healing to everyone

Rhea--
You have every right to feel victorious!!!  Good for you!  Forget about the GP--and congrats for getting such good results to help you along with YOUR life.  AFter all, you are the most important one to you.
I hope everything continues to go in this positive direction.
How are you managing with school?
Good luck and cheers
MJ
