My Right is giving me so much pain.(HELP PLEASE) - - Posted by robson07 (robson07), 28 April 2004
Good afternoon to all I am so glad to see there is a forum just for knee problems and I am not the only one out there with there probelm.....
I need some advice or any thing two years ago I had an ACL reconsturtion done on my right knee - after injuring it playing football. Since then I have played football again and been quite active. Till a month ago whilst playing my right leg the one I a op on slipped slight where by the top part of my right leg came over towards the inside of left leg. Stright away I had a sharp pain on the inside area of my right knee. I did try to run it off and was ok for till the end of the game. The next day I had some severe swelling around the both sides of the right knee. The swelling came down after a few days and thought it was ok and assumed it was just a sprain. unitll yesterday afternoon I was walking along at a normal pace when I turn to my left to walk into a shop - A big sharp pain came up on the side of my knee it was so sharp and painfull I stopped right there scared to move my leg.
As I walked back to my office the pain is ok when I am seated but as soon as I get up its bad and when I try to walk it so bad I haveing difficulty in strightening my right leg. Please can anyone help I dont know what I have the doctor dont want to know. Please is there anyone who can advice on what I can do resolve this problem.

Hi there.
I have no idea what you may have done to your knee... but pain in it post op of an acl reconstruction probally isnt good at all. I'd get it checked out....
Good luck.
PS. going for acl reconstruction on the seventh!

on second thought. i also tore my meniscus, and i had similar symptoms, of pain, and not being able to straighten my knee...or walk on it untill it popped back into place.

hi...sorry about the injury..i'm with aubs..get it checked out.... if you're having trouble standing and pain...sounds like the joint is a bit unstable....see below..i've been down this road too many times...the one thing i would do differently is not "play hurt"..you can see where that got me
......at the very least you can get it properly diagnosed and know exactly what you're dealing w/....
good luck...i hope everything goes well
cheers

Sounds to me like you've torn your medial collateral ligament, i have exactly the same problem but did mine in martial arts. i also tore acl but didnt go to A and E until a year later a year ago (surgery in couple of weeks)so god knows what other damage i've done. A test ive found that may decide whether it could be is to lay on your back and with your leg in the air, move your leg to the lateral side as if doing splits. Does it feel unstable under gravity?
Only do this if its not too painfull.
Either way go see your doc to find out whats going on
All the best
