KNEE ARTHRITIS - Injections into the joint :

Life is Better - - Posted by River525 (River525), 16 September 2004

OK I know I said OUCH on my other post regarding the first round of injections of Synvisc in both knees. I felt like I needed to give an update.

Well.........Being the big sissy that I am......I was terrified to return for my 2nd round.  I spoke with my OS before going and he was wonderful; he prescribed Valium to calm my nerves and then injected my knees with lidocaine to numb them before the Synvisc injections.
IT WORKED!!!  No pain this time with the injections.
I know that doctors say that they shouldn't numb your knees with Synvisc injectinos but I tell you it can be done.  Not everyone is a sissy like me so I admire the ones who can do it without being numbed up.  My knees unfortunately are always inflammed so they hurt whenever something is injected.

Anyway just wanted to give you this update.  Thank goodness for this board.  It has helped me so much and to realize I am not alone in this long journey with my bad knees. Grin
