Minescus transplants in the U.S.A. - - Posted by 15rider (15rider), 23 November 2004

I'm 28 and recently had pretty much my entire right lateral minescus removed.  I want to look into getting a transplant so as to postpone arthritis and the possibility of a TKR down the road.

Does anyone in the U.S. have experience with the procedure?

If so, where did you have it done?

How much did it cost? How much if any did your insurance cover?

How is it working out so far?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Jon

I am 26 and had a medial and lateral meniscus transplant when I was 22. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and have a wonderful os who has done many many of these procedures.
I cost about 35,000 for each surgery/hospital stay, the rehab was 3 X a week for about 5 months.

I am glad that I had it done, it was well worth it.

Let me know if you have any more questions
Melanie
