Meniscus :
3 years... - - Posted by superchef (superchef), 3 December 2004
i damaged my miniscus on my left knee 3 years ago when i was playing basketball...it was so swollen that i cant even flex it a bit back then...after 2 months,i went to an orthopedic doctor, he suggested me that i should go and rehab my knee to see if this will do the trick...sad to say i did not finish my rehab because of my school back then, i only had 2 months of rehab...
right now i'm not having any problems walking or running around, so i started playing basketball again, but i'm having problems when i jump too high, my left knee feel so weak that it cant support me when jumping...
what should i do?

Did you every have an MRI to actually confirm the mensical tear, or to rule out other damage?
When you descibe what happened and the amount of swelling you had, it sounds like a classic senario for an ACL tear. Mensical tears produce very localized swelling as compared to ACL tears which have the diffuse swelling which you describe.
You should go and see your OS again for further evaluation.
