Muscle twitches - - Posted by katie (katie), 18 April 2004

I've recently been getting muscle twitches in my duff leg (have arthritis  around my patella following osteochondritis). Basically sitting down, with no loading on my leg, various muscles have been twitching.

What the heck is this?

Am I overstressing them when I'm walking or something? Or is it more  likely to be them being aggravated by the inflamed joint or what?

This happened to me last night after a short stroll around the neighborhood, except it mostly happened in my good leg.

Just quick little jumps for about 20 minutes following the walk.  I think they might have been the muscles cooling down or something--other than that, I have no idea!

Katie,

I get these muscle twitches all the time, usually after I've been walking for a long time or doing some exercises, my doc says its just that the muscles are tired.  It can be really weird sometimes though, you can actually see the muscle twitching even through my jeans, feels like my leg is going to explode, it isn't sore, just really weird, I wouldn't worry too much about it but may be worth checking with your doc just to rule out anything else.  Good luck.

Natalie.
