NOTES - Your success stories :

one year s/p MPFL reconstruction - - Posted by bdmrad (bdmrad), 3 November 2004

I am one year out from reconstruction of medial patellofemoral ligament with allograft. It was done for chronic recurrent patellar dislocation.  Knee pain was not a factor.

It has been a gradual recovery. It took until this summer before I could even do a straight leg raise without pain around the graft. My wife convinced me to go to a trainer and I am doing weights and beginning to recover some strength and muscle mass.  Maybe I should have been more aggressive early on with rehab.

I am happy with my decision. My only doubt is whether or not I should have had a TTT also, but at the time I did not want to be nonweightbearing for six weeks.
I expect that over the next ten years that I may suffer from patellofemoral arthritis. If so, maybe I'll need a TKR or patellofemoral procedure, but then I'll be sixty and snowsports won't be as important to me.
