Having Knee Pain and Concerned - - Posted by lillykim (lillykim), 26 March 2003
Hello,
I am brand new to this message board and would like to first say hello to everyone!
I have pain in my left knee and it has been there for about 4 months. I am an active cardio kickboxer and only 23. I went to see my physician and he had diagnosed me with patellofemoral pain syndrome and refered me to a Physical Therapist. Upon examination by the physical therapist they told me that I had alot of laxity (?) in my left knee and they said said I had a positive Lachman's test (I guess this is what they use to determine ACL damage). Well I received an MRI just yesterday and the person who would read it is not in and won't be in till Thursday. The technician who preformed my MRI said there was fluid between the joints but the ACL looked intact. I have heard that you can also have a partial tear in that ligament that won't shown in the MRI. All I know is that my knee is killing me and when I walk my leg feels really loose. Has anyone had this happen to them? THANKS!!!

Hi There
Afraid I am not getting in touch with tonnes of useful advice as I am fairly new to all this - I do know that an MRI doesn't give all the info all the time and so often the clinical test (Lachmans) needs to be relied upon to develop treatment.
I hope that you have been able to find some answers from your consultant and that steps have been made to sort out the pain
