ACI-Hospital Stay Controversy - - Posted by cray (cray), 28 September 2003

The second stage of my ACI surgery has been cancelled (originally scheduled for 10/6/03). It seems that the OS and Worker's Comp. cannot agree on the length of stay.
WC says one day. The OS wants three or four days.
I'd rather not stay in the hospital longer than I need to, however, if it's necessary I'd rather be safe.(not my call anyway) Can anyone share their experience after this procedure?

Hey Cray,

I had the ACI done last November. My insurance only okayed one night as well. My OS said that if I really needed more of a stay that they could push it through as medically needed once the time came. I don't think that you will hurt your implant site by going home after one night, but I do think that I would have been more comfortable staying one more night. I was given the option of staying and thought that I would be more comfortable at home.

Good luck, and I hope you can get things resolved.

I had similar problems but my consultant managed to sort it all out and ended up staying in for three nights
Glad of it too
Had an epidural for two days so no chance of leaving
Try discussing it with your consultant and insurance provider mine was BUPA
Good Luck

Hi Everyone,
I'm having my surgery in the morning. I'm a bit nervous but am looking forward to good results. Today will be filled with last minute things to do while I can still walk on my own.
I'll let you know how it goes.
