Well, obviously you need to call the doctor. He'll probably want you to have an ultrasound to check for a clot.

Bev,
Definitely go to the doc and get it checked out, SOON!!! While blood clots aren't too common (the good news), if present, they can go to your lungs (called pulmonary embolism, the bad news) which can kill you. Don't fool around with it.
I had to get checked out for the same thing last week (tender swollen calf), the ultrasound is no big deal. Hopefully it's just swelling.

Thank you all.........I did go to ER last night.after a very long wait.......they did a blood test........and it did come up abnormal.and gave me a shot in my tummy ( blood thinner.)and ask me to return to ER this morning for a Ultrasound.............and Happy to report, that I don't have a blood clot.....at least a major one.there was a small one........in a vein..but they said it wasn't the type to kill me.........so I am to take an asprin a day......and follow up with my Primary Dr........Thank all for your help and concern.....Hugs from Michigan Bev
