KNEE ARTHRITIS - Total Knee Replacement :
Knee replacement after a TTT - - Posted by elaine (elaine), 19 December 2002
Hi, Everyone, I'm new to the board. I have has 4 TTT to my right knee. One of those was the Maquet, and the others were moving patella tendon laterally, then medially, then back laterally. A total knee is in my future. Can a total knee be done after so many TTT's. By the way I am 44. Thanks, Denise

I had a TKR done on my right knee after a Fulkerson procedure. I had also had a patellectomy and 12 other surgeries before the TKR. I don't think that there should be a problem after TTTs. I had a modified TTT when they did the TKR so I also had an extra screw put in to hold things together. I was 45 at the time.

Sandy, How do you like your TKR? How many months are you out from surgery? Thanks, Elaine

I am 4 years out from my right knee (done at age 45) and 1 year out from my left knee (done at age 4
. My left knee is ok, still feels like it is duct taped but I know that is scar tissue around the patella and I am just gonna let that go. My right knee is not great at all. With the patellectomy, it affects how the TKR goes and some OS will not even do a TKR if you have had a patellectomy. My problems are linked to the afteraffects of the patellectomy and have nothing to do with my fulkerson.
With all that said, I would do it again. I do have less pain (not pain free) and I have more mobility. I can't do as much as I would like but I am better than preTKR.
