Benefits of Bicycling - - Posted by grudier (grudier), 8 November 2004
Hi all, after months of being told to start biking by my ortho, I finally listened. What I'm interested in is, how often, how far, what kind of injury, and if you think it's helping overall. What type of biking regimen do you have and is it working? Let me know how you feel about it, it's too early for me to tell, but I like the exercise, the scenery, and mentally I feel really good about my progress, drop me a quick line and let me know about you. Thanks

Hey Grudier,
I've been biking since I was 3months post-op. I actually bought a mountain bike pretty much 4 months after my op - I've been biking initially for 30 minutes on flat grounds without click-pedals. Also I never used a brace biking. I now bought some click pedals which makes biking for effective and I've been on the bike for up to one and half hours and been biking loads offroad - just been fairly careful going downhill. Anyway, I always felt fine after the biking - never had problems with my knee and actually I think it helped a lot in my recovery as with biking I could push myselfself more than
running as there was less pain etc.
Hope you are good and your progress sounds really good!!
Cheers,
Philip
