I had an ACI in sept 2002, the graft overgrew and required debridement. I have had reto-patella damage as a result, and the only time I do not experience a chronic dull ache is the initial 10 seconds upon waking. Once I put my feet down it is there the dull pain that is. During the day dependant on my activities the ache either stays in the background or rears its ugly head. My choice for repair was this or an Oats procedure. I could not see" robbing Peter to pay Paull " my only hope is given my age of 41 this post pones the need for a TKR. My activities have not returned to my previous level nor can I tolerate to kneel.
