The patello-femoral joint :
Had a really bad pain night - - Posted by lb573 (lb573), 14 January 2005
Hey all. Last night was absolutely horrible. My knee was no more swollen than usual, and i do not recall doing anything to bring on such hideous pain. I did not sleep at all last night the pain was sooo bad. I took many T3 and advil, but still i was up all night crying the pain was so bad. This morning i got out of bed and went to class after wrapping it really well with an icepack on it, took some more T3 and advil and proceeded on my way. I made it through the day(very little moving at all) and came home and called my GP. She is on holidays for a few months, and all the other ones in the same practice were booked up pretty solidly for over a week. Has anybody else had this happen? I just wish i knew what may have caused it all, because it is still really bad, but has lessened a bit. I had a subluxation a few days ago, but i don't think that would cause this 3 days later, would it? Could something else have happened when it subluxed? I am thinking about going to the minor emergency walk in clinic to see what i can do about it, as my OS is already out of the office(of course a friday!). I have never had pain this bad before when there was such little swelling present. It was worst laterally and felt as though i was being kicked, but towards the front it was really throbbing badly. It was really bad. Sorry for the long post, just wondering if any others have had this experience and if so, what they did. Thanks so much for everything,
Leah

I have had crashes that I blamed on a change in the weather. A year ago I went to the emergency room because I had an increase in pain I just couldn't deal with anymore and begged them to do something
. The doctor there gave me a card of prednisone. While I wouldn't recommend oral cortisone for just any situation, this got me through.
