First four weeks

A couple of days after second surgery the hospital physio's arrived, I was still in a lot of pain and was surprised that that they pushed so fast to get me up and about. I was fitted with a hinged brace, metal bars with lockable hinge joint at the knee which was set at 10 - 90 degrees, its velcroed to cushioned pads that strap around the shin and thigh, very neat but don't strap them up too tight or can cause excessive cramps and foot pain.

Knee replacement - design of the prosthesis

I would like to draw attention to this excellent article on knee replacements. This should answer most questions about the design of the prostheses and what each kind of prosthesis is trying to achieve.

TPF - run down by a car

The accident?

Neuroma Excision and Open Scar Tissue Debridement

"The next step is to schedule surgery." This was the message in an email I received from the doctor's office, after reporting no improvement from the nerve blocks and cortisone shot. I had been having severe nerve pain on the medial side since my surgery in Oct 07. This is a continuation of my blog titled, Nerve Entrapment, A Second Time. Because of this, I was now scheduled for surgery on April 2nd, for Neuroma Excision. This surgery is almost 6 mos to the date from my last surgery in Oct 07.

Physio assessment two months post surgery for TPF

Just got back from my first physiotherapy appointment, friendly and helpful with some experience of TPF she was cautious in recommending that I concentrate only on exercises to straighten my leg and rebuild quads, wants to speak to OS before attempting to change the limit on the brace which limits me to 90 degrees rom. The most optimistic yet as to me making a full recovery although didn't suggest when! next visit in 8 days.

The Flector® Patch,

Yesterday, I went to the OS for my left knee and asked for a cortizone injection and mentioned I was using my lidocaine patches like crazy. He said there was a new patch out on the market.

Arthrofibrosis

As we build up our reference resources on the topic of 'arthrofibrosis', I have decided to keep them together in a 'keynote'. Here you find in one place all Dr Noyes' tutorials about arthrofibrosis, Dirk Kokmeyer's rehabilitation tutorials, all the literature reviews I have tackled so far, and several other papers of interest to readers.
