OA and dating and other relationships
« on: July 29, 2004, 04:27:49 PM »
I am 30 years old and was diagnosed with OA in feb 04 after surgery on both knees in 03 and I was not getting better like they thought I should...my fears last year of whether or not I would be partially disable caused me to push a new relationship way then when I tried to explain what I was going through he turned his back on me....Now I am very afraid to date anyone...I was told by someone they hoped what was going on with my knees was not permanant because no one wants to be with a cripple....I already had trust issues steming from other things but now its even worse...wondering will I even be approached since I walk with a cane now.....can I trust them with knowing whats wrong or will they walk away like the last person... It seems like all people do is stare and then ask what happened....they dont see me any more...I spent a year and half on crutches and people remembered me because of the crutches...but when I got off of them they act like they didn't reconize me....which confirms they only saw the crutches anyway....Dating is hard even when there is nothing wrong and now its much worse...I don't even like being in large crowds.....I have always been to myself but could be very sociable when I needed to... but now I know I am more withdrawn and to myself...I find myself not wanting to go out and even do family events....is anyone else out having these issues and fears of dating and ending up alone :(.....

Hey !!

If a person really loves you and you develop more problems which cause you problems in life like walking etc. then this person still stays near you and love you.
Otherwiese this person love is a big fake and not real.
I live in a marriage since 15 years and we have known each other for about 22 years. When we met I was as anyone else know i use wheelchair 100% and live with severe pain. Ok we have had our problems but we still live together and support each other.
I don't think you have met the right person yet. Don't be afraid of dating if you want to. And don't be afraid of telling the person about your problems. Better be straight then hide things.
Wish you good luck and that you soon find the love in your life.
