Stryker Mako PKR
« on: November 07, 2018, 06:18:28 PM »
Longshot query - but has anyone any views on the Mako robot-assisted placement PKR? My orthopedic surgeon mentioned it as a new option when I saw him about my second knee yesterday. To my mind it's weakness is the fixed bearing plate, whereas the 'tried and tested' Zimmer/Oxford knee has a mobile bearing. I fear it may wear out faster for someone trying to keep active, while a mobile bearing should spread the load more widely.  On the other hand, if it's a newer design it may use more durable materials. Cost is naturally somewhat higher.
