Help Trying to Figure out Knee issues
« on: February 06, 2018, 12:23:21 AM »
First of all, I know these will not be professional opinions, but even the professional opinions I have received so far are all different, so I am reaching out on here for some more opinions and advice.
I do not know exactly when the pain started. My first knee injury happened when I was about 10 years old, and I fell out of a tree. The doctors said I dislocated it, and was told to just take it easy. After a few weeks I was fine, and had no pain. But about 5 years later, my freshman year of high school, my knee pain began again. At first it was in the Medial ligament, and truly all over. But I remember knots being in my Medial a lot. When we went to the emergency room, it was just said to be knee pain and they sent us on our way. We then got referred to a PT later on, and he said my patella was maltracking, which caused my muscles around my knee to overwork themselves, etc. After PT showed no improvement, we stopped going. Massage therapy helped some, but nothing huge. A few weeks ago, we began seeing a new chiropractor, where he said it was scar tissue build up, and causing issues.
Again, the chiropractor has not had the success he claimed he would.
My symptoms now include pain and stiffness in basically everything around my knee, and about 1/4 way up my thigh.
It is difficult for me to do deep bends, and can be hard to get down stairs. It hurts when i am sitting, standing, and such. It really seems like there is nothing that triggers the pain, and nothing that stops it. I do not know if this is enough information, but I can answer more questions. I just found out about athrofibrosis, and I am wondering if that is a possibility..
Thank you for any advice you offer.

Have you ever had any X-ray or MRI of the knee?
RK sharp pain while running, diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 6/09
RK arthroscopic chondroplasty 9/09
RK rehab, recovery, 90% normal, started running again -> back to square one 5/15
RK diagnosis patellofemoral arthritis + LK diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 8/15 -> conservative treatment

Hello! I had an x-ray done about 4 years ago in a very low quality emergency room. ( they said my cousin broke his arm, when nothing was wrong.) So I would say no, I have never had either.

Go see a knee specialist and perhaps get an MRI.
You don't mention seeing a knee specialist doctors (not just a general orthopaedist). Chiropractors aren’t specialists in potentially complex knee issues (at least not in the U.K. where they are regarded as ‘quacks’ by many)

You symptoms sound a bit like patellofemoral syndrome
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
LK New MRI shows lat & medial meniscus tear & other stuff
RK MRI lat meniscus tear
8/1/15 RK Steroid jab,
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation

I have not seen a specific knee doctor! I am going in for a check up this month, and we plan on bringing a lot more focus to my knee, so hopefully we will be referred somewhere!
