Avulsion fracture of tibula/Brace question
« on: February 04, 2018, 11:00:29 pm »
Hello,
I have been recently involved in a bike accident (a week ago) and fractured my tibula. After the weekly exam doctor said that i should wear a cast  for two more weeks or i can wear a knee brace (an LP brace with side support)  if i was careful. I chose the brace option, should i wear my brace at night ?
Should i wear it all the time except showering?
Thanks in advance, Karl

You should ask your doctor as he was the one who gave you the brace and knows what your injury is (tibia? Fibula?). If it's an alternative to a cast, I can imagine that you should be wearing it 24/7...maybe even while showering (obviously keeping it dry)
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation
More tears and wear, scope planned in Jan 2019 to tidy up

During the exam i was told i can walk whit the said foot and it would be no problem. Avulsion fracture of lateral edge of the lateral tibial condyle that is what the document says. Ill give my doctor a call and see what he says.
Thanks,karl
