13yo girl hip sticking; joint laxity; femoral ante version
« on: January 26, 2018, 03:34:07 PM »
Hi,
I am looking for insight into what may be going on with my 13 yo daughter.  She has always had very loose joints.  For the past 6 years, we have noticed that she runs with her feet swinging out to the side behind her.  She began complaining of knee pain 4 years ago, so we took her to ortho dr. and he said she has femoral ante version; however, he did not do any imaging.
Lately she has been telling me that when she sits in certain chairs, like our recliner, she can't get up because her femur gets stuck in the hip socket and won't move.  She has to manually move her leg with her hands.
She also is able to "pop" her shoulder out of place.
She has never had much, if any, intoeing, but the tibia swinging out when running is pronounced.
Any thoughts on what might be going on?
Thank you so much for your help.

Have you consulted with a specialist in hypermobility in children? He or she would be best placed to advise. Maybe contact your local paediatric hospital orthos it rheumatology departments. I think they’d be better advisers than a general adult
CT scanning is likely needed to look at the bones and MRI for connective /soft tissues
Good luck :)
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
LK New MRI shows lat & medial meniscus tear & other stuff
RK MRI lat meniscus tear
8/1/15 RK Steroid jab,
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation

Okay, thank you!  I have some calls out to look for someone covered by insurance that specializes in femoral anteversion; will look for hyper mobility knowledge as well.
