High Grade Tear of MPFL
« on: December 06, 2017, 07:44:01 am »
Hi there,
In a really silly and funny situation in a train, my knee has twisted and Pain got all over my body. After done MRI it discovered as High Grade Partial Thickness Posterior MPFL and Low Grade Partial Thickness Tear of the anterior fibres of the MCL. I have not talked to a specialist yet. After searching in google, I found the treatment out and It is ď Surgery ď. I am so scaring. I donít want to go under surgery. Is there any other way as a treatment for this problem?!!
Thanks so much.

Did you dislocate your kneecap? Before then or since? Are you still in pain?

I think physiotherapy is usually the first course of action for ligament injuries. Surgery which is major to repair the MPFL is a last resort to resolve ongoing multiple dislocations

A minor MCL injury should heal with time and physio.

Don't use Dr Google, go see a knee specialist to discuss and get a physio referral

Good luck :)
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation
More tears and wear, scope planned in Jan 2019 to tidy up

I donít know that it was kneecap or not. But I experienced 2 times dislocations. Once in the train and second with a normal movement in toilet. I donít have pain now but Iím not able to extend my knee. Barley I canít walk.
Iím impatiently waiting for my appointment with Specialist.
During Christmas days, it was the last thing I wanted.   :'(
