Slow progress after ORIF left patella 8 weeks ago
« on: September 04, 2017, 04:02:29 PM »
I am having a very hard time getting my knee to bend.  I'm 8 weeks post op.  I fell at work and shattered my left patella in about 6 pieces.  Have 3 screws and wire now.  I can easily get to 70 degrees on my own.  At my last therapy session, my pt pushed me to 90 degrees very very painfully.  I can't seem to get there on my own.  I have about a week left to increase my ROM to about 110 or my OS will do MUA.  Anyone have suggestions or tips to get me to that point on my own???
7/7/17 - fell at work, shattered patella in 6 pieces
7/12/17 - ORIF l patella
8/9/17 - started PT ROM 35...
8/23/17 - follow-up with OS...ROM 65...Wanted me @90.  Giving me 3 weeks or will do MUA
8/31/17 - PT pushed it to 90 degrees but I can't make it there on my own

Quite a story. These type injuries require at least 6 mths to evaluate prior to any other-surgery. (not sure what you meant by MUA?). Be careful and take a 2nd opinion.
RK Patella Luxation in 2000
RK Scope grade 2 damage to patella
RK PT for 4 mths, recovered 90% after 4 years
LK Patella Luxation in Oct'16
LK Scope to remove loose bodies (grade 4) to patella Nov'16
LK Lateral Release + MPFL Reefing + MCIC in the UK Dec'17
