Lateral comparment knee damage - brace?
« on: November 25, 2016, 11:30:39 PM »
Hi all,

It doesn't seem like this page is very active for knee braces.  Presumably there isn't much percieved benefit from using them vs having surgery or rehab to address the issue more directly.

I am curious tho, if anyone has an experience with a brace that might protect a knee with partial removed lateral meniscus, so the current knee has lateral compartment damage, and some patella cartilage damage too.  My instinct is that a custom fitted unloader type brace would protect that compartment (while I am deciding on the most appropriate surgery for me) and perhaps help with my patella tracking, which could be the case of the cartilage wear there (although it could also be due to my sport where I repeatedly drop to my knees (with padding)).

Any views on suitable braces, I would be tremendously grateful.

Many thanks
