Help
« on: September 28, 2016, 08:18:46 PM »
Have had bakers  cyst since Feb 2016. Was drained twice came back a couple weeks later both times. I am 56 yo but still an avid basketball player and runner. MRI showed lateral meniscus tear. Dr said I am old and have arthritis, go ahead and run play hoops to limit of your pain.
He didn't think arthroscopy would help as I have significant arthritis? Shouldn't he at least clean up the meniscal tear ? If I gobble down a ton of ibuprofen and ice after it is manageable--cyst is about the size of a golf ball. It hasn't changed in size the entire time.

Some days I don't notice it other days it is extremely painful. I am thinking of getting a second ortho opinion. Any advice ?

Forgot to mention I have HUGE swelling on the anterior lateral side of knee. This will not go down at all.
