MPFL Reconstruction day 5
« on: October 15, 2012, 02:11:43 PM »
I am on day 5 from having MPFL reconstruction using my own hamstring tendon.  My surgeon also had to remove some cartilage that was damaged so I guess that explains the three  1 inch incisions and two scope holes. I have a lot of numbness around my knee and down my leg and have left a MSG for the surgeon to see if that's normal. Hoping the pain pump they put in for the first few days didn't damage anything. Anyoneexperience similar issues.  He also has me on1aspirin a day for blood clots but it makes me feel lightheaded and faint about 20 minutes after I take it. Ugggggggg

Hang in there! I'm about 7 weeks post surgery at this point. Sensation in your knee will take a while to come back. I still don't have 100% sensation in my the area surrounding my knee. The area around my knee felt a bit numb for a while. Try to be patient--it all starts to come back with time. Things are slowly improving for me. I was able to ride 18 miles on my road bike today! You can check in on some of my recovery on mpfl.tumblr.com

Hi I'm now 10 days post mpfl recon had my first physio appointment today like you I have had the same feelings
As you my knee still feels dead when you prod it the pain I seem to get is like somebody is cutting my knee with a knife and the back of my knee is painful and bruised I'm partial weight bearing at the moment the thing what was worrying me the most was bending it but I've managed to bend it 55 degrees today the physio said that is quite good compared to some people all I can say is the pain will get better over the coming days just get plenty of ice and keep that leg up higher than your hips and keep on top of the pain meds believe me I know when I need to take my next dose sometimes I can't wait the 4 hours I hope it gets better for you
