My 1st steps in 7 months

7 months ago on the 4th I was in a dirtbike accident which left me with a torn ACL, PCL and MCL and pretty much a jumbled up mess inside my knee (the words of my doc after he put me back together).
I had my surgery on May 14th, replaced ACL, PCL and MCL with cadaver parts and cleaned everything up in there. It has been an emotional and physical roller coaster ride since my crash and there has been times when I thought I was never going to recover from this. But I've kept a positive attitude and have had an awesome support network and today, 4 1/2 months since my surgery I took my first steps. It was a very emotional event and felt like a huge weight taken off my shoulders.
Don't get discouraged, I know it's easier said than done, I've been there but it does get better. Hang in there a stay positive.

Congratulations! That's one hell of an injury list and it's great to hear that you've taken your first steps. I'm sure it's a credit to your positive and determined approach.
I hope your recovery continues to make really good progress from here on.

Thank you!! I've definitely had my share of downs days but have tried to keep a positive attitude. It's really helped getting in contact with people on here that have fully recovered from a multi ligament injury. It's helped me see there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Wow...congrats on your progress!! I'm am new to this site and am sooo happy I found it. I was feeling pretty much alone in my situation and pain. It's great to read about everyone elses situation and learn from it...let alone, those that have already recovered come back to cheer everyone on in their journey to recovery!
Thank you and congratulations to you...it just might ease some of my pain reading the posts of others.

Thank you!!!! Yeah, finding this forum is the best. It has really helped getting in contact with others that have had the same injury as me and have fully recovered.
What I've learned about these injuries is a lot of times the progression is not linear, you'll have setbacks but you just have to be patient and keep moving forward. The best advice I got from a fellow triple ligamenter is don't compare this week to last week, compare this month to last month.
Since my first steps I'm definitely not walking around full time, I mostly get around with one crutch but have to use both sometimes, especially after my therapy sessions when my muscles are depleted. I can walk around for short periods, mostly in the morning when my muscles are fresh and there's no swelling.
Remember, it'll get better with a lot of time and patience. Keep your head up and stay positive. Take care, John

Thanks!!!! I'm slowly weaning myself off my crutches, I mostly get around with one now. It's been a long tough road and it's a little longer but I'm getting there. Thanks again

Thanks!!!! My pain levels are fine. Every once in a while I'll get more of a discomfort depending on which way I move it but I wouldn't describe it as pain.
