Treatment for torn patellar tendons
« on: September 18, 2012, 02:47:06 PM »
On Friday I'm having a scan since it looks like my patella tendons in both knees might be damaged and are not responding to rest or physio. It gets better after about 7 days full rest but I can easily reinjure myself by walking or cycling (things I used to do every day before this happened). This has been going on for about 4 months now.

I've read that the treatment for tears in knee tendons is physiotherapy, immobilisation or *gulp* surgery. Is it possible to heal them without the dreaded cast or surgery? Since it's BOTH my knees I'm getting worried about if I'll be able to continue to do normal daily activities (I'm a student and study in a town 15 mins away on the train) but continuing to walk and stand on them isn't improving matters either. What's the usual course of action if the pain is recurring?

Hey!  How have things been going?

Can you please tell me more about your reoccuring tendon injuries?  Does it pop? and it's painful and then it swells up?

I've been dealing with patellar tendon problems... my right knee popped and it took 3 months to heal I'm still rehabing it and then my left popped just 5 days ago and I'm repeating the whole process.  But my OS says they are not torn and don't need surgery.

Let me know thanks
