Multi ligament tear and surgery
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:52:00 PM »
I'm looking for fellow multi ligament injuries that have fully recovered. Sometimes during the recovery I feel like I'm never going to heal and walk again. Just looking for some motivational stories of recovery. I tore my ACL, PCL and MCL in a dirtbike crash and had all of the ligaments replaced with cadaver parts. The recovery has been very slow and frustrating at times. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

5/14/12 Surgery done to replace ACL, PCL and MCL with cadaver tendons
4/18/13 Recieved news from Doctor that the ACL and PCL healed well but the MCL did not take. More surgery.

Hi Jonny

I think I replied to another post. Don't worry. It is a long road. And remember rehab for MCL and ACL are somewhat opposing so it takes time. I ruptured ACL and MCL plus nasty lateral meniscus tear in April 2011. I haven't been the pickiest of patients with a few set back but due to bone strength issues mainly. Anyway, as a success story, I'm doing fine now. Yes, the knee grinds a bit and feels stressed and sore after physical activity but I'm running again and have just spent 2 weeks sailing (sometimes in tough winds), so the knee is very stable.

I've got good quad strength back which is vital but also a pretty much normal ROM (bit shirt on extension).

Just takes time and hard work!

R

Yes, you did. Thanks, R. It's great to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Keep me posted on your progress and thanks again.

I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting better. Today I walked to my neighbors house about 2 blocks away, mostly on one crutch. I feel like I'm coming back from the dead.
